Natalie Batmanian-Ratyosyan received her Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from Rutgers University in 2003. Before coming to Stony Brook she was a post-doctoral fellow at Hunter College conducting research funded by the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders. Her areas of professional interest are first and second language acquisition. The primary questions behind her current and future research are: What is the cross-linguistic evidence for language variant and language invariant cues in acquisition? What role does first language and age play in second language acquisition? How do age and first language effects manifest in syntactic and morpho-syntactic knowledge in second language learning?
